It's Christmas!

On Christmas Eve, my mom and Taylor came over for dinner and to open presents. The dinner was delicious and the kids enjoyed opening their presents. They didn't get to stay long because the weather was getting nasty outside as we were getting our first snow. It snowed 5-6 in. that night into the morning. Ronnie read the kids a book before bed. I couldn't resist taking a picture as they all looked so cute! Before bedtime Ashlyn set out "puppy chow" and milk for Santa and

placed a note beside it that read "To Santa". She was surprised to see Christmas morning that all that was left of the puppy chow was a few crumbs and Santa had left her note.

Santa was very good to the Farmer family as we opened lots of gifts Christmas morning. Ashlyn got just what she wanted and loved helping Breckyn open her presents. Lola, our dog, even enjoyed Christmas morning as she got a new doggy bed.

The Days of December

The next couple of weeks after Breckyn was born, we spent our days lounging around the house. I was off work for six weeks on maternity leave and Ronnie was off work for two weeks. Ashlyn still got to go to preschool until her last day on the 16th. Ronnie and I spent our time feeding the baby, changing the baby, and getting rest whenever possible. It was a rough couple of weeks, trying to adjust to having a newborn in the house, however I enjoyed every second of this time with my family. We all started going stir crazy after the second week of being home. So when the opportunity arised, we took advantage of getting out of the house. Our first outing with the baby was to grandma and grandpa Farmer's house for Christmas on the 12th of December, my birthday! We stayed the night and opened presents the next morning with gma Rhonda, gpa Ron, Kim, Mark, Zacharey, and Phoebe. Ashlyn was excited to open her Christmas presents and Breckyn could have cared less as she slept through most of it. Breckyn slept most of the day away as everyone looked her over for the first time.















Our next outing was Breckyn's 2 week check-up at Freeman Children's Clinic. As we were waiting to see Dr. Woolry and filling out paperwork, the nurse called for a 2 mo. old Breckyn. We were stunned to see another Breckyn in the room! Breckyn didn't enjoy her check-up much as she cried and pooped her diaper. At her check-up she weighed 8 lbs 10 oz. and measured 21 in. long. The doctor was concerned about her heart murmer and scheduled an appointment with a cardiologist for an echocardiogram. The results of the echocardiogram showed Breckyn has a condition called "Branch Pulmonary Artary Stenosis". Nothing too serious, however it was a scary experience for us.

On December 16th, we went to Ashlyn's preschool Christmas program at the Ymca. The program lasted about 30 minutes. Ashlyn did a wonderful job singing the Christmas songs and doing her part as Rudolph. Ashlyn got to say goodbye to all of her teachers and friends as she is leaving to go to another daycare in Bentonville. She was very sad to leave her friends and teachers, but we keep telling her she'll make new friends. Her teachers made her a photo collage and gave her a really sweet card. We can tell they will also miss her just as much!


On December 18th, we went to Ronnie's graduation at Pittsburg State University. Ronnie received his Master's degree in recreation--a very big accomplishment! We proudly looked on as Ronnie walked across the stage. Ashlyn couldn't stand the noise of people clapping, so she waited in the lobby with gpa Ron. The baby slept through the noise during the 3 hr. ceremony.
During the next week we traveled to Bentonville, AR so Ashlyn and the baby could see their new daycare, "Pink-E-Pie's". We asked Ashlyn what she thought of her new daycare and she replied, "I don't know yet." A little girl her age came up and talked to her. Ashlyn thinks they could possibly become friends. I'm anxious for them to start a new daycare, but I know I'll be close and can check on them whenever I want. And you know I will be!

The Newest Addition to Our Family!

Our daughter, Breckyn Claire, was born Monday, November 30th, 2009 at 7:27 A.m. by cesarean. She weighed 8lbs 3 oz. and measured at 20 3/4 in. She was welcomed by her mommy, daddy, and big sis Ashlyn, as well as her grandparents (gma Rhonda, gpa Ron, gma Becky, gpa Steve and Mimi). It was a smooth and quick delivery and definitely a wonderful experience! I was so happy to hold her for the first time in my arms and love on her. Ronnie was a proud dad and Ashlyn was a proud big sister. We spent the day relaxing and looking Breckyn over. We were happy our parents could be there for her birth! We spent the next two days in Freeman hospital being cared for by some nice nurses and doctors. By Wednesday we were ready to go home and get settled in. Wednesday morning we were approved by the doctors to go home!

Thanksgiving 2009

This Thanksgiving was an exciting one as we were anxiously awaiting the arrival of our second daughter. We traveled to both of my grandparents houses on Thanksgiving day and stuffed ourselves with two gigantic meals. I ate myself sick as I do every Thanksgiving.

Our first stop was at grandma and grandpa Tullis's house. We ate lunch and got to visit with everyone. It was a happy time as everyone in the family was there this year. Ashlyn enjoyed playing with baby Paisley and her cousins Taylor and Emily. Ronnie and I enjoyed playing a few games of "golf" with grandma, mom, Larry, Taylor girl, uncle Tony, and uncle Jeff. My mom was gracious enough to take pictures of the family with her awesome camara. She took a few of our family outside. It was wonderful seeing everyone at grandma and grandpa's!

Our second and last stop was at grandma Wiley's house. We ate a good dinner that Janice fixed with dad, Janice, Taylor and grandma. I was happy to see my dad, Janice, and grandma Wiley, whom I hadn't seen in awhile! Ashlyn and Taylor played in the living room while we visited with grandma. We didn't get to stay too late as it was getting dark and we were super tired from the days festivities. All in all, it was a fantastic Thanksgiving.

So I've seen others do this whole blogging thing and always wanted to start one, however I didn't think I would have the time. But since we are all busy and don't get to see our families and friends very often, I thought I'd start this blog to update everyone on what's going on in the Farmer family household. I will try my best to post as often as I can!
