Every year we travel to Altamont, Kansas for the "Annual Betty Wiley Fishing Derby". Betty Wiley is my sweet, loving grandma on my dad's side of the family whom passed away last December. The Wiley's started this event fifteen years ago, to be able to meet in the Fall and enjoy camping, fishing, and other fun activities with each other. There wasn't much fishing this year as the pond was very low, however we did enjoy playing some volleyball, eating, and talking with everyone. Ronnie and I, Breckyn and Miles did not stay the night this evening because we weren't excited about camping and sleeping in a tent with the two little kids, so we drove home. Ashlyn got to stay with Grandpa Steve, Mimi, and Taylor and is probably sleeping in her cousin, Shyanne's, camper right about now. Ashlyn always has the best time playing with her cousins, Shyanne and Mia. Uncle Scott brought his train he made and took everyone for a ride around the pasture. Ronnie and I played a mean game of volleyball, Ronnie was on the opposite team of mine and they killed us of course. I think everyone had a good time and they will do more activities in the morning that we won't get to participate in, but hopefully Ashlyn will have fun. Here's some pictures from today.

| Me and my Grandma Wiley at last year's "Fishing Derby". It was my first time back in her house since she passed and it brought back a lot of memories of her and I. I couldn't help but think about how she used to sit in her kitchen and talk with me and her wonderful smile and laugh. I also wondered what she would have thought about Miles...I think she would have been a very proud great-grandma, as she loved all of her grandchildren so very much. |
