The First Week at Home With Miles

We came home from the hospital with Miles on Wednesday, June 20th, around 1:00 P.M. Ronnie came from work to pick up Miles and I and went straight home so we could get settled in. Ashlyn and Breckyn were at daycare most of the day so Miles and I could have a chance to get acclimated to our home environment. The first day was rough and I was wishing I would have stayed at the hospital one more day. After that first day home, however, things got better and on Saturday Grandpa Steve and Mimi drove from Tennessee to visit us. They arrived in the morning and we went to Ashlyn's end of year softball tournament game. It was Miles first outing at 6 days old. It was HOT, but we stayed cool enough in the shade. Later that afternoon, Grandma Rhonda and aunt Linda came to visit, as well as my aunt Caroline, uncle Darold, cousins, Jennifer and Natalie, aunt Marilyn, and cousins Sarah, Craig, and Ryan. It was nice to have all of the company come and see our little Miles. Miles really welcomed Sarah by "soaking her" while she held him :) A little spray and wash and she was just fine. We all then went out to eat dinner at a place called "Bud's Chicken", where we ate all you can eat chicken and ribs. The food was good and it was nice getting out of the house and visiting with all of my family. We also showed everyone where Ronnie works and around the town. The next day Grandma Rhonda and Pepa came to visit. We sat around our kitchen table and visited for a long time. Grandpa Steve and Mimi stayed with us until Tuesday and then had to drive home. It was nice having them come visit us and we really appreciate them taking the girls off our hands during those few days. Later in the week Grandma Becky came to take newborn pics of Miles and to just hang out with me and the girls. It was good having her visit as I was needing that time with my mom. Here's some pictures of our first week with Miles. As you can see, the girls really like being around him and touching him. Ronnie and I were just trying to adjust to having a newborn in the home again. The last two pictures are of Miles's first bath at home. He didn't like it so much.

6/18/12 Welcoming Miles to the World

Finally the day had arrived when Miles was scheduled to be born via c-section. Early in the morning we started preparing and Grandma Becky arrived around 8:30 A.M. to our house to watch the girls while Ronnie and I left for the hospital. We arrived at Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville around 10:00 A.M. We had to register and then waited around for 2 1/2 hours for our doctor to arrive. We were scheduled at noon, however the doc was late! Miles finally arrived at 1:02 P.M. via cesarean section. He weighed 7 lbs 1 oz., measuring 19 1/2 inches long. He was perfect! Ronnie went to the nursery with Miles while I recovered for an hour. I finally got to hold my sweet baby boy after that. I remember I was sort of "out of it" from the medicine, so I don't even remember holding him for the first time. Grandma Becky was there with the girls, along with Grandma Rhonda and Pepa. I felt bad as they had to wait a long time for Miles to get here.

We spent Monday, the day of his birth, through Wednesday at the hospital and got to go home Wednesday afternoon. The girls stayed with Grandma Becky at her hotel during that time and got to go swimming and also played at our house during some of that time. Our neighbor, Mrs. Linda, also came by to visit us at the hospital.

I have to say, everything went very smooth, except for the actual c-section in which I felt very sick during the surgery. But it was all worth it when the little guy arrived! The last picture is of him when we came home from the hospital. He wore a little white outfit my aunt Susie had bought him. The first few days after we got home were rough. Miles had difficulty nursing and I was exhausted! But we made it through it all. We are so blessed to have Miles in our lives! He's the best :)

6/17/12 Day Before Miles Arrival

The day before Miles birth was Father's Day. Not only did Ronnie get his ultimate Father's Day gift of a brand new baby boy, he also got some handmade gifts from the girls. We spent the day opening presents and relaxing before the big day of Miles's arrival. Here's some pictures of Ronnie's last day with just his girls. Also, Grandma Rhonda and Pepa came over and brought some "big sister" gifts for Ashlyn and Breckyn. They opened their presents from them as well as from us. It was like Christmas for the girls! They sure were excited!!
